"Be cautious—initial quotes intentionally omit crucial information about required equipment or hidden costs, such as the mandatory installation of a Bluetooth beacon. These details are only revealed after you've committed to signing up. It appears that the priority is enrollment at any cost, even if it means withholding important facts. Once you're in, the terms change—and not in your favor. Proceed with extreme caution."

"1 star – Misleading and disappointing experience I was recently referred to Shanon Teolis at State Farm in Charleston for bundling home and auto insurance. Everything seemed fine at first—they sent over a quote that showed a discount, and we had plenty of back-and-forth emails. But nowhere in that process did anyone mention that the discount was tied to installing a tracking device (a Bluetooth beacon) in my car. They never explained it in the quote or in emails—not Shanon, not Riley. As soon as I signed up, I got a notification that this tracking beacon was being shipped. At that point, I realized the discount came with strings attached—they monitor your driving through your phone. I would’ve never agreed to that if it had been clearly explained up front. Unfortunately, I couldn’t back out because my closing date was too close and I didn’t have time to switch providers. They even acknowledged in emails that it wasn’t communicated clearly, but did nothing to fix it. No alternate discount, no real help. Really disappointed. I expected better communication and transparency—definitely would not recommend."

"0 out of 5 stars – Very unhappy. I was referred to Shanon Teolis at State Farm in Charleston by my mortgage agent while shopping for home and auto insurance. From the beginning, I made it clear I was looking for the best rate and wanted to bundle both policies. They sent me a quote, and there was a discount listed—no explanation, no mention of what it was tied to. We exchanged a ton of emails with both Shanon and Riley, and not once did anyone explain that the discount was tied to installing a Bluetooth beacon in my car that tracks my driving habits through my phone. This was never disclosed, never clarified—not in the quote, not in any email. As soon as I signed up, I got an alert that the beacon had shipped. Total bait-and-switch. I would’ve never signed anything if I had known. Now it’s too late to switch, since the house closing is around the corner. I’m stuck—they admitted in writing that they didn’t properly explain it, but showed zero willingness to make it right, offer an alternative discount, or fix the issue in any way. Congrats, State Farm—you just lost a brand new customer before the policy even started."
